How adult learners use the Internet: California survey data

Colleagues,

Do you wish our field had survey data on how adult learners are using technology (computers and mobiles) to access the Internet; if, where and how they have access; what they do online; and how, using technology they communicate with their teachers? I learned in yesterday's webinar, Helping Learners Problem Solve Using Technology-Rich Environments, that in at least one state -- California -- we do!  Perhaps our California colleagues here could tell us more about the survey, for example: how it is being conducted, who developed the questions, and how the data are being interpreted.

I would also be interested in your interpretations, for example, after you look at the data:

1. Any surprises?

2. How does the California data fit (or not) with what you know about students in your programs or schools?

3. How could you use these data to inform your planning for blended learning?

Has your state done a survey of how adult learners use technology? If the results are available, please let us know and, if you can, include a web address.

You'll find the California ADULT ED ONLINE survey at https://adulted.otan.us/info.cfm?fuseaction=studentResults
