How do we improve teaching, learning and assessment?

Hello colleagues, There are policy discussions underway related to the recent PIAAC report. The webinar on Thursday, February 13 from 1:00 to 3:00 ET. will offer a summary of the PIAAC data, the OECD’s special report on America’s low-skilled population, Time for the U.S. to Reskill? www.timetoreskill.org, and feature a focused discussion about the issues facing adult education. To prepare for the webinar, see the Consultation Paper, which provides background on the skills issue and the framework for the national action plan.

Here are a set of questions from the consultation paper related to improving the quality of teaching:

  1. How do we recruit, train, retain and compensate effective teachers and leaders who can assist with providing high-quality instruction?
  2. How do we ensure the placement of college and career readiness standards at the center of all instruction and assessment in adult education programs across the country?
  3. What role can institutions of higher education play?
  4. How can we leverage the power of technology to improve teaching, learning and assessment?

What are your thoughts on these concerns?

Cheers,

Susan
