Hello all,
There was an awesome Education Matterslast night wherein Bill Goodman will be discussing Innovation in Education. Guests on the program will be David Couch, CIO Kentucky Department of Education, Eminence Independent Schools, Danville Independent Schools, and Dr. John Nash of the University of Kentucky’s College of Education.
Under the leadership of Buddy Berry and Thom Coffee Eminence Independent schools has begun using technology in novel ways that have exploded student participation in class as well as created a new culture among staff.
Danville Independent Schools have begun using Project Based Learning (PBL) in the classrooms. The Superintendent, a middle school principal and high school Physics teacher discuss how PBL has benefited the student population.
Finally Dr. Nash joins the conversation and talks about innovation in schools. That innovation is more than using technology, it is about how teachers are deployed and a “decision of will.”
I found the program invigorating, and I believe the ae field at large will as well. You are able to access via www.ket.org/educationmatters thereafter.
Question:
- Are any of your ae programs able to replicate Eminence's program?
- Is PBL usable/applicable to the ae classroom/learner?
- What is your impression of Dr. Nash's assertion that this style of programming is a "decision of will"?
