Interesting Science Articles for the Adult Education Classroom

Hi All,

There are tons of great science ideas being shared every day. I thought I would list a few of the recent highlights.

  • First, did you know trees have emotional feelings? "They can feel pain, [and] have emotions, such as fear. Trees like to stand close together and cuddle. They love company and like to take things slow,” – these are just a couple of findings by Peter Wohlleben, a German researcher who devoted his work to studying trees." Check out the documentary, Intelligent Trees
  • If you're interested in DNA, scientists just developed a six letter genetic code as a proof of concept moving us one tiny step closer to fully functional synthetic life.
  • Physicists have found a metal that conducts electricity but not heat! This defies our understanding of how conductors work.
  • Scientists know how lead got into Flint's water supply. What will it take to fix this problem nationwide?
  • Finally, bees are to obese to mate and scientists are trying to fix the problem.

How can you use these articles in your classroom? Would you like to see continued posts like this highlighting interesting Science based articles?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
