Learning to Read Changes Adults' Brains

Hello colleagues, A recent study with 21 adult women in India, who had never learned to read, which was led by Falk Huettig of the Max Planck Institute, showed some amazing changes to these women's brains. For those of us working with adults learning to read for the first time, it is encouraging that adult brains are likely much more flexible than previously thought.

You can read Gary Stix's fascinating interview with Falk Huettig in this May 2017 blog in Scientific American.

Please share your reactions to this important research. What implications might there be for our practice?
