Let's Build a Video Library App Together!

CrowdED Learning is currently running a crowdsourcing experiment to see how many learning videos we can accumulate by the end of the next year. The premise is simple:

  1. Find a Video: Either one you have used with learners already and like, or one you have found, examined, and think learners would love. For the purpose of this experiment, we just want YouTube or Vimeo videos.
  2. Share the Video: Simply open this form and fill out the information about the video. The form takes less than 2 minutes to complete.
  3. Click Submit: Submit the form and the info will be sent.

Here is a link to a video (2 minutes) that shows just how easy this all is.

Once you share just one video, you will get a link to a video library app emailed to you! The app is in the process of being built by you and anyone else who has submitted a video! Once you have it, you can submit more videos, and see it almost immediately appear on the app! So far we have just over 30 videos submitted...

Beyond using this as a crowdsourcing experiment, we have a number of goals. First, we know video content is incredibly popular, so this is our first step in beginning to gather and then organize video content according to standards. Second, the app we are creating based on your submissions is being built using a tool called Glide. Glide is a no-code app builder that literally allows you to build an app using nothing beside a GOOGLE SHEET!!! Glide will be our resource of the month in January 2020....and I'm excited to share because it is such an easy way to share great, free content with learners. Third, we look at this as a way of not only providing great content, but also introducing people to new sources of great content! Just based on the submissions we've had so far, I've been introduced to a number of cool video sources for things such as grammar, student motivation, career pathways, and more.

So, I encourage you to take just a few minutes to submit a video! It's easy, it will help other educator and learners, and it will introduce you to a new tool I think you'll like as much as I do!
