Online Course: Project-Based Science Instruction for Career Pathways

Module #2: Project-Based Science Instruction for Career Preparation

This course explores connections between science content knowledge and how adults use science in their daily lives, especially in work and career-related contexts. The course is self-paced and features three modules: (1) Using Project-Based Learning to Connect Science Instruction to Daily Life; (2) Preparing Adults for STEM Careers via Project-Based Learning; and (3) Mapping Science Education to Career Paths.

The second module provides several opportunities for discussion on topics related to STEM. Please use this thread to discuss which scientific practices workers in STEM careers use on a regular basis to carry out their jobs? How can you use this information in your classroom?

Our program is a partner really with a local college with a vast vocational program. Trying to introduce our students to those programs and the possibilities that they offer is extremely important to our population. Using these types of lessons and interactions will hopefully increase knowledge and even participation at the next level from our students.
