LinkedIn’s “Pulse” – A new networking opportunity for adult educators?

Hello everyone!

As you may have seen, LinkedIn is rolling out their new publishing platform called Pulse. One can publish and also follow the "long form posts" of others through LinkedIn. This may be a promising way to follow professional writings – and publish your own – side-by-side with professionals in other, related fields. Some features of Pulse include:

  • Your original content becomes a part of your professional profile
  • It’s shared with your LinkedIn connections and followers
  • Members not in your network can follow you from your long form post to receive updates when you publish next
  • Your long form post is searchable both on and off of LinkedIn

(For more information, see What is publishing long form posts on LinkedIn?)

Not only may this be a promising way to grow your professional network, showcase your work and learn from others, but also to raise the visibility of adult education within broader circles of professionals.

See Leveraging LinkedIn for Nonprofits (item #8).

For those of you who have access to it, what do you think? Has anyone here published on Pulse yet?

PS: To see whether you have access to publish on Pulse, go to your LinkedIn home page. You’ll see a pencil icon in the Update box.
