Colleagues: During World War II a special newspaper for literacy and language education for the underskilled troops was created. Called Our War, one of the features of the newspaper was a cartoon strip win which the fictional literacy students, Private Pete and his pal Daffy, are depicted in a variety of activities. Among the newspaper cartoon strips are those focusing upon Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. For those educators interested in activities related to these holidays I have prepared an MS file with postcards for these holidays. Anyone interested can contact me at tsticht@aznet.net and I will send you a copy of the file. You can then use these for your own use and/or in classes for learner activities and discussions.

Great idea, Tom. Would you mind posting your offer to the Adult English Language Learners community? I think these cards might be helpful as the ELL adults learn about typical American holidays. (Good to know you are still out there and contributing--as always!)
Carol: I'm not a member of the language group. Feel free to cross post the note if you'd like. Tom Sticht
Hi Carole- We have cross-posted this thread to the AELL community as requested. Thank you!
Thanks, Tom. I will have your notice posted to that group by the moderator as I am not a member either.
