Marginalizing the poor...even more

Dear Adult Educators...recently there have been several discussons in various groups that had one element in common - how certain agencies are in effect marginalizing the poor even more, especially immigrants and Native Americans. To whit - cutbacks in ESL in adult education classes, lack of internet service in poor communities, maltreatment of immigrants and neglect of prisoners' educational needs.

The question is - what can we as educators do about it? How do we support efforts to ameliiorate certain conditions?

I know that we are supposed to avoid political discussions here, but that does not mean we cannot raise issues and possible solutions as part of our discussions.
