Surprise (not really ;))... innate ability isn't what matters most. Internal locus of control (thinking that your efforts improve your odds of success) and making connections (over memorizing steps) is more important.
I've watched the belief that you don't have the innate ability so often impose on that locus of control and the decision to memorize & survive instead of making connections (that you are sure only smart people understand)...
