Online Orientation

The impact that OER could have on my instructional practice is, that It could open up availability for more students to enroll in higher ed. It could also allow faculty access to more resources for more interactive courses. I created an online orientation with resources and quizzes to determine if online classes are suitable for the individual.

Hi Gwen,

Can you tell us more about the orientation? Is it possible to share details about this resource? So you use this as a way to determine if online classes are suitable? What is the Plan B for students who are determined to not be a candidate for online learning? And are there OER resources to help students develop the skills to be successful with online learning?

I think this is exciting and look forward to your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Kathy

Hi,

I've found this resource very helpful: https://www.gcflearnfree.org/. I just incorporated different resources and a short quiz in the online orientation. The students determine themselves if online classes are suitable. Plan B is a face-to-face class.
