Open Comment Period for Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) recently filed a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that would officially recognize Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (IRAPs).  The filing has opened a 60-day comment period for apprenticeship stakeholders and experts to read the rule and weigh in with their expertise by the August 26 deadline.

The DOL’s proposed rule would formally include IRAPs in the Code of Federal Regulations (29 CFR Part 29) that govern the RA system under the National Apprenticeship Act of 1937
