PD Area of the ALE Wiki – Did you know?

Hi everyone,

Back when the LINCS Evidence-based PD Group was formerly the Professional Development Discussion List, we had a “wiki” associated with our community -- specifically the Professional Development Area of the ALE Wiki: http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/Adult_Literacy_Professional_Development . Here we collected gems from conversations and collaboratively edited thousands of staff development resources based on our discussions on the PD List.

Did you know that…

  1. 2014 is the Adult Literacy Education Wiki’s 10th year in existence (Happy 10th Anniversary, ALE Wiki!)
  2. The home page of the ALE Wiki has been viewed 768,872 times. (See http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/Main_Page)
  3. Of the top 100 most popular ALE Wiki pages, # 3 is "Adult Literacy Professional Development".
  4. Of the "most viewed" pages, "Adult Literacy Professional Development", with 64,418 views, is third, right after the Main Page and the Who's Here page.
  5. 79 main content areas are linked from the Adult Literacy Professional Development home page.

We wouldn’t have put so much time and energy into the wiki if it weren’t valuable to us. But however popular the PD area of the ALE Wiki is or once was, it is now outdated. I’d like to recharge the PD area, update broken links, and revitalize the content.

If you’d like to see this resource renovated, then I hope you’ll help me to update its content. I’ll pose questions here in our EBPD Group from time to time that hopefully will encourage discussion around hot topics in professional development and from which we can capture professional wisdom for the wiki. And I hope you’ll take some time, perhaps over a lunch break or two, to add to the wiki yourself.

Have a great day or evening,

Jackie
