Professional Development with a Focus on College and Career Readiness

Hi Everyone,

I have been participating in Kentucky Adult Education’s Professional Development (PD) this fall that concentrates on Collaborations.  In this PD, adult educators are collaborating with their colleagues to develop standards-based lessons.  The lessons that they create use the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education and include student engagement along with technology.  The participants have done prework prior to coming that day and must arrive with an idea for a lesson that they will develop.  They work in teams but must create their own individual lessons.  At the end of the PD, they present their lessons and along with their descriptions and explanations.  Members of the other teams review the lessons and offer feedback.  Participants are encouraged to take photos of the lessons shared.  The participants are told that the lessons will be vetted and will be available at a later date online.

What kind of PD have you done with the CCR Standards?  Have you participated in any professional development similar to this?  Does it include a focus on College and Career Readiness?  Will you be involved in PD in the future?  What is the topic of that PD?

I look forward to hearing about it.
