(Re)Introductions

Dear Colleagues:

If you are new or returning to this group, or even if it's just been a while(!), please (re)introduce yourself by commenting in this thread. Tell us your reasons for joining us -- what would you like to get from your involvement here?

I'm Cynthia Zafft, the moderator for our group.  You can find out more about me by clicking on my picture and looking under 'profile.'

You might also wish to (re)familiarize yourself with the threads that have been discussed so far. Feel free to continue the conversations in any of the threads -- It's never too late to join the conversation. You can find them by clicking on the Discussions tab in our group.  If there are discussions you would like to save and return to, use the Bookmark feature at the bottom of the first discussion post.

And you can engage in other ways, such as clicking on “Like” to like a post or comment or by participating in polls, for example. Or by adjusting your settings to receive an email notice each time a new message is posted (currently it defaults to sending a 12-hour digest).

Feel free to contact me direct if/as you have questions. I’m happy to help: czafft@worlded.org

We're happy to have you join us and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello:  My role as the Patient Education Coordinator at a large health organization allows me to help support/coordinate the patient education resources used across the care continuum.  For years we have integrated the principles of plain language within the patient education resources which we have internally developed.  At this time I am investigating ways we may be able to further facilitate concepts of health literacy within our health care culture.  I currently have the support of some of our system leaders and I've been researching the vast array of resources which are available.  It would be great to collaborate with anyone else who may also be working on similar projects.

Hi Alix;

Welcome to the Health Literacy group!.  As I have been going through the group's directory, I have definitely found many people who are Patient Educators and Coordinators for health organizations -- working on the system development side.  Would you let us know the job categories of the leaders you are working with?  And, in terms of patient and system principles, like plain language patient education resources, what have you been thinking about lately?
