Research in adult education for those new to research

Colleagues,

I have created a new Research in Adult Education page on the Adult Literacy Education (ALE) Wiki:

http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/Research_in_Adult_Education

It is intended for those who are new to adult literacy education research and who are looking for resources that will help them become more familiar with the research in the field. If you have resources that are not listed on this page that you think would be useful to teachers, program administrators, state administators, professional developers or others who may be new to research in adult education please list them on this wiki page. There are instructions at the bottom of that page or, if you cannot or prefer not to do this yourself, email the research resource and web link to me directly. If you think the resource would be of interest to participants of this CoP, you could instead post it here, but I hope you will also (take the leap into wikidom) and list it directly on the ALE Wiki. It is impossible to mess up the wiki. If you make an error you -- or I -- can easily correct it. That's one of the beauties of wikis.

Please note, there are 33 other topic areas in the ALE Wiki, http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/Main_Page , most of which include sections on research in that topic. These include, among others:

  • Professional Development
  • Assessment
  • Corrections Education
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages
  • Health Literacy
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Numeracy Research and Practice
  • Reading
  • Transition to College
  • Women and Literacy, and
  • Workforce, Workplace and Worker Education

Some of the topic area leaders on the ALE Wiki are subject matter experts on the LINCS CoPs. If there is an ALE Topic Area that does not currently have a leader, and you are interested in this (volunteer) position, please email me.
