Site Survey

Hello All,

After 9 years in a county program in Frankfort, Kentucky I've joined a Kentucky Adult Education sponsored project with KET. I started making site visits the last week of January to local programs talking about the new venture, technology integration in the classroom, and how programs can get their students prepped for not only the 2014 GED® but the 21st Century as well.

While I am enjoying the program I am finding that there are some areas of which I need to focus more time, talking with you and participating more heavily on this listserve being one of those things. When I announced to the list my transfer to this new position I was asked to keep you informed as to what I'm doing, well here is one of the things: I am creating a survey - a baseline to show measurable results.

The purpose of this survey is to (1) be quick, (2) be answered by Site administrators and (3) give me a better idea of what 120+ sites are currently doing. I’m not wanting to know fine, in class details, but want it to be more detailed than by a multi-site administrator.  So, if you'd please be kind enough to try the survey and let me know where you find questions confusing, where I may unintentionally be leading the answer, etc. I'd greatly appreciate your review.

The survey will impact site visits, PD offered at live trainings across the state and then by live, remote, trainings in the near future. The survey will further help me better understand what a site is offering to their population so that I'm not beating a dead horse.

The survey can be found here.  Please take the survey and let me know what you think. Feel free to reply to this thread with your thoughts.

Thanks for your help!

PS - another thing I need to make more time for - BLOGGING! It's coming, you can check out what I have here. I am planning on adding some how-to videos to it, adding a Kentucky specific section, as well as more universal tech topics.

I like it.

Question #6 cintains one too many "you".

You might also want to ask what type of instructional software or online tool the program is currently using or subscribed to.

Good eye!  I can't tell you how many times I've read over it... TYVM!!

And "might also want to ask what type of instructional software or online tool the program is currently using or subscribed to," is a great suggestion, thanks!!

The survey looks great. I wonder if you consider group texting as an online tool. Solutions like GroupMe could qualify. Texting is such an important and growing tool used for student outreach.

I would be very curious to see the survey results. Congratulations on your new job at KET!

I agree, texting and group texting are great outreach tools. When making the survey I was thinking of including in a teacher specific survey, but I think you're right in that it can be a great outreach tool.

Thanks for the review and suggestion!
