Social media tools and FAFSA completion

Did you know that completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSASM) is the first step for determining eligibility for federal student aid and subsequently accessing these funds? With the 2013-14 application available January 1, Federal Student Aid is promoting FAFSA completion.

You can help get the message out through your social media channels about the importance of completing the FAFSA early in the year. To help, we have developed some resources for you to use:

·  FSA’s social media content calendar to support FAFSA completion: Includes Facebook posts and tweets

·  20 Tweets to promote FAFSA completion

·  10 Facebook Posts to promote FAFSA completion

Hello Lisa,

Thanks so much for sharing these resources. We will certainly use them in our work to promote FAFSA completion.

I am sure that you are familiar with the 2004 study, Missed Opportunities, about the high percentage of college students who do not complete FAFSA and the various reasons for this. Have similar studies been done recently, esp. about the part-time students since most of our students attend college on a part-time basis.

Best,
