stories about work that help foster "agency" in students

Hi folks -- I am just back from doing full-day trainings at 5 sites in Florida, and there was a lot of enthusiasm there for the current issue of The Change Agent, which is called "Good Jobs, Not Just Any Jobs." Most of the articles in the magazine are written by other adult learners, and they tell the stories of students' goals, the challenges they face, and the strategies they employ to move forward with their lives. Also, available online are the levels of the articles plus audio versions of many of the articles. The Change Agent is published by World Education, which is a non-profit. To access the online materials, you do need to pay a small fee. You can find out more about that at www.nelrc.org/changeagent.

The stories in the latest edition of The Change Agent are terrific, and they are written at many different levels!  There are also thoughtful exercises students can do to think about the writing. As for the online audio component, I just shared the audio option with some teachers at a professional development session recently, and teachers were very excited about it.  I think the "small fee" for access is something like $15!  Thank you Cynthia.
