Supporting Parents Heading to Teacher Conferences

Hello colleagues, It's that time of year. Many parents will be heading to school for "back to school" night. Getting to know and partnering with a child's teacher is so important for families. What role can adult educators play to prepare adult English learners for these important conversations?

Here's a link to 8 "Sentence Starters to Use When Talking to Teachers" that parents can use when interacting with their child's teacher. These are not really designed for beginning English learners, but they could be shared with learners at higher levels.

Here's a lesson plan designed for lower level on parent-teacher conferences created by Rory Haglund.

Colorin Colorado has a wonderful collection of resources for parents in Spanish, including tips to prepare for a successful parent-teacher conference.

If you are aware of other resources, please share them.
