Tablets Pose Challenges for Online Test Takers, Studies Finding

Colleagues,

Robert Wessel posted this to the Technology and Learning CoP, but I thought it might be of interest to this group too.

An article that found its way into my in-box that is just as relevant to adult ed as it is to K-12: http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/DigitalEducation/2016/06/tablets_pose_challenges_online_testing.html?cmp=eml-enl-dd-news1-RM

I have come to similar conclusions through my personal use of desktops, laptops, tablets, e-readers and smart phones. Different screen sizes and ways of manipulating the material do have a large effect on the relative usefulness among devices for accessing content. The implication is that in addition to a digital divide, there may also be a device divide. Those with access to a variety of devices (desktops, laptops, tablets) may have a significant advantage over those who use just a smart phone or tablet.

I am wondering if Bob Wessel's experience, that there is a "device divide", particularly when it comes to assessment, is something that you have experienced.
