Texting parents tips improves their children's literacy

Reading and family literacy colleagues,

A recent Stanford University study shows literacy benefits to pre-school children whose parents are texted tips on how to help them with literacy preparation. Here's an EdWeek article about it:

http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/parentsandthepublic/2014/11/study_finds_texting_parents_reading_tips_improves_students_literacy_skills.html

The full study will be found at http://cepa.stanford.edu/sites/default/files/York%20&%20Loeb%20%28November%202014%29.pdf

I wonder if this also helps parents with their own reading skills, and if family literacy programs would be interested in -- or are already using -- this. The content for the tips comes from a Minnesota early childhood project, called Ready4K, designed especially for children in the lowest-income families. You'll find their blog at http://ready4k.blogspot.com/

I am curious to know if anyone in adult literacy education has been using Ready4K materials, and in particular the text message program for parents.
