Videos Give Guidance for Teaching First Generation Students in Post Secondary Institutions

The link below comes from the Chronicle of Higher Ed's newsletter.  While I understand that not too many of us are teaching post secondary coursework in our secure facilities, the premise of the article is both interesting and applicable to correctional ed classrooms.  The videos are good advice for teachers dealing mainly with first generation higher ed (but also, I think, good for ABE classrooms) students and are insightful about some of the challenges faced by students embarking on a somewhat unknown path.  Would love to hear if the approaches and suggestions are of interest, or if you have other resources  and/or tools that you use with a particular population.

Heather - thanks so much for this link!  I did take the time to review several of these videos and think that, while based in University-level perspective, the videos below contain several great approaches to common challenges in supporting and motivating adult learners to be independent life-long learners.

In fact, I think these should be shared not just with the Corrections folks, but with a lot of the other CoP groups as well!  (I'm going to go cross post this in the ongoing discussion on attendance I saw earlier.)
