Webinar: Free Resources for Evidence-based Reading Instruction From a Distance

Hi everyone! Last fall CrowdED Learning hosted a LINCS event focused on using free and open educational resources to enhance evidence-based reading instruction with your learners. The event was spread out over 10 weeks, and the resulting OER professional development packet is available for people to access and use at any time.

Given our current situation of everyone having to teach at a distance, CrowdED Learning will be hosting two, 90-minute webinars (same webinar, two date / time options) focused on finding and implementing great free resources to support online reading instruction while incorporating the four components of EBRI. Included in this presentation will be overviews of the free resources listed below, along with free tools and strategies for incorporating them into whatever format for instruction you've begun settling into as we teach and learn remotely for the time being (with a mind's eye toward continuing to use these great resources when we "get back to normal."). We hope you are able to join!

Here are the free resources we will be discussing, along with strategies for how to use them.

Alphabetics

  • IXL | Easily scannable library of phonics lessons as well as other subjects (can do one resource set per day)

  • Learning Chocolate | Topical activity sets designed for learning English vocabulary, including over 50 activity sets focused on word and letter sounds.

Comprehension

  • CommonLit | Leveled reading library with guided reading

  • ReadWorks | Comprehensive leveled reading library

  • ReadTheory | Personalized leveled reading program

  • Overview | Shared doc describing the above resources

Jeff,

Many thanks for bringing all the EBRI free resources together again in a LINCS post.  There has been so many resources posted recently that it can be overwhelming to "sift through" to find what is needed for EBRI and leveled instruction.  I look forward to the upcoming CrowdED webinars!
