Welcome New Members

Hi all,

During our recent hiatus, I see that we had a number of new members.  Welcome to everyone - both new and current group members.   Please introduce yourself by commenting to this discussion thread below.  Let us know what areas of disability you are interested and involved in.

Thank you.

I figure not-new people should also introduce ourselves... I'm Sue Jones and I work with students in pre-college level courses at Parkland College.   My background is in LD w/ 5 years teaching "Language Fundamentals" (Orton-Gillingham) at The New Community School, where I got to see just how much progress a student could make under near-ideal circumstances... which isn't what most folks get of course!

My specialty, though, is applying that same structured, multisensory approach to math concepts for older folks with or without LD issues, and when I'm not helping out students I'm learning to make apps and videos and the like so that there are options online that go beyond sticking equations on a screen and plowing through procedures.

Hi Susan,

You are absolutely correct.  I would love to hear from our long-standing members too.

You are a frequent contributor and a guest discussion leader from the former LD Discussion List.  Your voice is always appreciated within our group.

Do you have any suggestions for new discussion threads, Susan?

Thanks,

Rochelle Kenyon, SME

Hi All: I am Lauri DiGalbo. I currently have a practice providing consultation and training around the country, and a bit internatiomaly, to adult educators. Pr This great undertaking began 5 years ago when I became the content specialist for the State Dept of Ed /Adult Ed in CT around disability realted issues.  I have just loved working with adult educators. Fortunately I do put my 35 years of experience in the disability field to work regularly dissecting issues that get in the way of effcient learning on a student by student basis and helping porgams tackle lsystemic issues related to serving folks with disabilities.

LINCS is such a good way for us to connect, share ideas and obtain support. I look forward to corresponding with you all.
