Why use rubrics?

Hello colleagues, We have touched on the topic of rubrics in our community before. Jayme Adelson-Goldstein shared with me the following link to  Mia MacMeekin's blog that offers some compelling ideas for why teachers should use rubrics. Among the nine ideas presented are that rubrics improve teaching, improve assessment,  improve the clarity of expectations and improve learning outcomes. Pretty significant claims! Do you agree?  The blogger also outlines how to use rubrics effectively.
