Upcoming discussion and Webinar

Hello Community Members:

Our FIRST event in the Community will happen this week!

Join the Financial Literacy group for a guided exploration of Consumer.gov/Consumidor.gov. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) created Consumer.gov to help people learn about topics related to financial literacy, including credit, how to manage debt, identity theft, avoiding scams, budgeting, opening a bank account, shopping for prepaid cards, and managing money.

Consumer.gov resources may be very helpful for adult learners. They contain concise and practical consumer information, are appropriate for audiences with varying degrees of English fluency, and are available in Spanish and free to use. Related consumer.gov materials can be ordered for free for use in classrooms and at community events at bulkorder.ftc.gov (English)or ftc.gov/ordenar (Spanish).

Join Cristina Miranda, Consumer Education Specialist, Division of Consumer and Business Education, FTC, at 2:00pm (EST) on December 14th for a webinar and introduction to Consumer.gov resources and their potential uses in adult education settings. The webinar will be followed by an online discussion in the Financial Literacy group.

No pre-registration is required to join the webinar.

If you have questions or comments please post them below!  I look forward to a great event with some great *FREE* resources!
