New and improved ‘Accessible Icon'

Hi group members,

The familiar version of the blue and white icon symbolizing accessibility in parking lots and restrooms has been updated. The new “Accessible Icon” features a more active view of life with a disability.  It is currently on display at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City alongside other culturally-relevant designs from the last few decades.  That exhibit titled “A Collection of Ideas”  is on display through February 2015.   The new icon is pictured below.

Last week, New York's governor Andrew Cuomo signed new legislation which will make New York the first state to require the in-motion 'accessibility' icon in.all new and replacement signage.  The state will also change the terminology on such signs, employing the word “accessible” instead of “handicapped.”

Who has seen the new accessibility icon in use?  Please let us know when you first see it -- and where!

Thanks,
