GED TESTING SERVICE AND KET ANNOUNCE FREE TEACHER TRAINING COURSES FOR 2014 GED® TEST PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES
WILL HELP EDUCATORS TEACH NEW COLLEGE- AND CAREER-READY CONTENT
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Starting today GED education programs and teachers have a powerful, free new resource available to them. Kentucky Educational Television (KET) and GED Testing Service collaborated on two free online professional development courses that will help instructors be prepared for new GED test content, including specific focus on language arts and math skills. These courses will assist educators in developing curriculum and teaching strategies to help adult learners succeed on the new 2014 GED test and beyond.
The new 2014 GED test places more focus on higher-level problem solving and critical thinking skills, and test content is aligned with state college and career readiness standards. Professional development resources for educators—like these two new courses—are an essential component of preparing students not only for the new 2014 GED test, but also for jobs and college/career training programs after.
“KET is excited to continue our strong partnership with GED Testing Service by offering these free courses. Providing resources for adult learners and adult educators is a keystone of our education mission, and these courses will answer many of the pressing questions educators have about the all-new GED test,” said Tonya Crum, KET’s director of adult education and workforce training.
“We are thankful to KET leadership for collaborating so closely with GED Testing Service on these important courses, and for providing them at no cost to educators,” said Martin Kehe, vice president of products for GED Testing Service. “We’re also pleased that Bonnie Goonen and Susan Pittman, two well-known and well-respected adult education trainers, are featured.”
Educators can access the courses through the PBS website at pbs.org/teacherline/catalog. Search for:GED Test Info: Reasoning Through Language Arts or GED Test Info: Mathematics to access the self-paced, online courses. Educators can earn a certificate of completion after finishing the final online quiz.
