A chronic problem with many formal ESL classes is the difficulty some students have in understanding the teachers due to the fact that the class and materials are only in English.
Many students drop out because they feel very frustrated in an EO class, unable to ask questions or follow the lessons. In some cases, people are even reprimanded for speaking in their native language.
The best solution to this problem is to offer classes that are “Pre-English Only ESL”, that include bilingual texts and bilingual support from the teacher.
My program is based on a bilingual method designed for Spanish speaking adult learners and consists of several websites and texts, all free online at this time.
