The deadline for workshop and poster proposals to present at the 2018 MSI Convening is rapidly approaching! Make sure to submit your proposal by Friday, June 8, 2018.
Richland College in collaboration with the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving-Institution (AANAPISI) Program is hosting its annual two-day conference for institutions of higher education interested in improving success of minority and underserved student populations. The conference will be held on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.
This annual convening, entitled “Using Data to Effect Change,” provides an opportunity for educators to gather and discuss
- evaluation processes to improve and expand minority student programs and initiatives
- evidence-based program development
- effective research and data-mining techniques
- building capacity and collaborations among minority serving institutions to advance research that promotes equity for all students
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Tia Brown McNair, Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Student Success for the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) will lead the Opening Address on Friday, October 19th. Dr. McNair will guide the Convening and inspire participants to share effective strategies and evidence based research for evaluating programs and initiatives that support minority student success and will moderate the panel of college presidents from minority serving institutions. On Saturday morning, Dr. Elva LeBlanc, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, Tarrant County College, will provide the Plenary Address to discuss challenges in improving minority student success at community colleges and share data about the success of some of the initiatives and programs her college has implemented.
CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Proposals are being accepted for workshops that focus on collecting and using data effectively, and presentations on evidence-based programs and initiatives. Graduate students are also eligible to submit a proposal for the graduate student poster session.
