National Advancing Equity in Adult, Community College, and Career and Technical Education Symposium - Overview Session

The National Advancing Equity in Adult, Community College, and Career and Technical Education Symposium, held on October 31, 2016, enhanced the national dialogue on equity in our education systems. The opening session, led by Dr. Johan Uvin, provided an insightful overview of the work the department has been doing to advance equity--some of it very visible, and some of it quietly, behind the scenes. These slides provide an overview of both kinds of initiatives, representing a significant body of equity work. Perhaps most powerful is the final slide, with results of those efforts leading to "More than 10 million youth and adults have now access to opportunities they didn’t have before." and "OCTAE is a more diverse, inclusive and supportive workplace with record-high job satisfaction rates." An impressive record.
