Actionable Resources

Hello all,

The DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and it's latest iteration, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) are commonplace in the marketplace.  Our work as Adult Educators has both common and unique attributes to advance the field of adult education in DEI or DEIB.  Let's share resources that will help at all levels. I will include a link or two to some helpful resources that I have encountered.

Hello Errick, It's wonderful to have you as part of this new community.

I only recently heard about the addition of the letter "B" for BELONGING to DEI. I love this addition and its sentiment. Creating spaces in our programs and classrooms where learners feel they belong is important and powerful.

Thank you for sharing all these great resources. I look forward to checking them out as well as to many rich discussions in this new LINCS community!

Cheers, Susan Finn Miller

Errick,

Thank you for your leadership in moderating this group and for sharing these resources.

The Adult Numeracy Network has created a space on our website for members of the ANN community (as well as the larger adult education community) who want to deepen our own understanding of racism and white supremacy, in terms of living history, math education, and also in terms of implicit biases that impact our practice. The space is organized into three pages:

  • ANN Math & Social Justice Home Page: Videos exploring intersection of math/justice/anti-racist teaching.
  • Educating Ourselves: Resources for teachers to reflect on aspects of our practice (like implicit bias and microaggressions) as well as a growing collection of resources to better understand US history, the history (and present) of racism, and anti-racist math teaching practices.
  • Learning with Students: Classroom resources for teaching social justice and math.

I am looking forward to learning with everyone in this new community group!

yours in productive struggle,

Mark
