“Teaching Immigration Across the Curriculum”
A free, three-day online workshop for K-12 and community-based educators in the U.S.
July 9 to 11, 2013, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Hosted by The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. Public Education Institute in Malden, MA, with faculty from Boston College; University of Southern California, San Diego; and University of Massachusetts.
As classroom diversity increases, educators are challenged with creating more creative, inclusive and informed classrooms. This free online workshop is designed for K-12 and community-based educators who want to better understand their immigrant students and integrate immigration topics into their teaching. Using an interactive, multimedia format, educators will learn about today’s immigrant students through presentations and panel discussions by experts in the field. Interactive modules such as “Integration in the Classroom” and “Strategies for Student Success” will allow participants to converse with the presenters and other educators. Participants will also receive sample lesson plans, teaching ideas and state-specific resources.
