Funding for community based adult ESL
"Informal" adult education is the term used for programs that are usually taught by volunteers and do not have strict attendance or assessment requirements.
These programs depend upon grants and other funding from businesses located in the community.
With the use of technology, it is now possible to set up "Drop-In" centers so that students can learn at their own pace with the help of a teacher, tutor or coach.
In particular, working adults, especially mothers, would benefit greatly from this approach.
It seems logical to assume that Informal programs could team up with formal programs at community colleges to access funding that could be used mutually. As far as ESL is concerned, programs would be set up as a "Conveyor Belt", with informal, casual classes as the first step in the process.
