Grand Café English - Multi-media ELL Curriculum for Entrepreneurship

Hello Friends,

Last year I shared a curriculum and program I was working to revive called Grand Café English.  It is an ELL series about an aspiring immigrant woman entrepreneur from Mexico named Sylvia.  Each episode includes a video, a student workbook and a teacher’s guide.

One of you suggested a good way to start sharing it would be to put it up on a website.  I'm happy to share that I got the website up in January and so wanted to share it with you all  - www.grandcafeenglish.com

https://www.grandcafeenglish.com/

It contains the first two episodes with accompanying student workbooks and teacher's guides.  I will add additional episodes as more requests for them come in.

I hope you get to check out the program and that it can be a useful resource to you and your students in your programs and classes!

Warmly,
Farhana

Thank you, Farhana! This looks to be a wonderful curricular resource. I love that it includes video. I'm eager to dig into this in more depth.

Members, take a look and let us know how you can take advantage of this FREE resource in your classes!

Hi Farhana, I was intrigued by your Grand Café English resource and watched the first two episodes. The production quality is outstanding, and I was immediately caught up in the lives of the main characters. The telenovela style is very engaging, and I want to see what happens next!

As an entrepreneur myself, I could identify with the struggles of the four main characters as they face the challenges of learning English, assessing their transferrable skills, and starting their own businesses. There is also both a teacher's guide and student workbook for independent study. All materials are designed for intermediate level learners and beyond.

It reminds me a bit of the 1990s ESOL distance education resource Crossroads Cafe

Thanks so much for your work in making Grand Café English available!
