Vocabulary Technology Tools

Susan Gaer and Kristi Reyes recently delivered a wonderful presentation on using technology to teach vocabulary.  They made some great and fun recommendations including free tech tools like Padlet, Thinglink and Quizlet. I know one of my personal favorites vocabulary.com.

Vocab.com's mission is to "close the word gap" in order for student to achieve higher levels and truly master vocabulary words (vocab.com, 2021). With thousands of vocabulary lists already made, vocab.com allows users to review and sort lists, practice lists, do a spelling bee, share a list, and copy a list. You can even have a list created for you from a text by simply copying the text into the site where it will pull the words for you. Furthermore, vocab.com has pre-made lists available specific to HSE tests. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend you do. Their app is amazing as well. I once had a student improve her reading by two levels after practicing on on the phone app for about three months.
