Hi. Hope you can join us today for a look at IETs in the Correctional and Reentry Setting.
Looking forward to a great discussion.
Thanks to all that attended the IET in Corrections discussion yesterday. One hour seems to go so fast and we barely scratched the surface of understanding the IET program model and its' benefits. I received a host of emails from people wanting to know more and curious about resources to assist them in the process, so for the next several weeks I hope to continue this discussion and hope the field can join in with their successes and challenges in launching and running an IET in the corrections or reentry setting.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) sets forth the IET requirements which can be found at: 34 CFR Section 463.5.
For an over view of IETs in general you my want to check out: The Compendium of Innovative Practices: Adult Education Bridge Programs - Integrated Education & Training Programs, published 2/2021.
If you have an IET up and running, please jump in the pool and share what's worked well.
More resources and tools to come.
If anyone is considering creating an IET that is connected to an apprenticeship, you may want to check out the Equitable Apprenticeship Toolkit that was just released this week during National Apprenticeship Week. Maher & Maher also has Ten Tips for Aligning Apprenticeship and the Workforce System.
