New Online Courses Now Available in the Learning Portal!

We are pleased to announce four new self-paced online courses now available in the LINCS Learning Portal. The new courses are Teaching Adult English Learners: Principles and Practices and three new Adult Career Pathways (ACP) courses.

  1. The Teaching Adult English Learners: Principles and Practices course is designed to support teachers new to working with adult English learners, or ELs. After completing the course, participants will be able to identify and apply appropriate instructional strategies for teaching adult ELs. They will also have strengthened their skills as an instructor and be able to implement classroom management practices to optimize learning in both in-person and virtual learning environments.
  1. The ACP Course 1. Building Strategic Partnerships: Engaging Employers course is the first in the series of three self-directed courses focusing on adult career pathways and is intended for multiple audiences, especially those interested in developing stakeholder and employer relationships for instructional enhancements and workforce preparation skill-building or work-based learning:
  • state adult education directors,
  • state program managers,
  • state professional development staff,
  • local and regional program administrators,
  • career and technical education state directors; and
  • adult education and English language acquisition instructors with an active interest in developing stakeholder and employer relationships for instructional enhancements and workforce preparation skill-building or project- or work-based learning will also benefit from reviewing the content.
  1. The ACP Course 2. Building a Bridge to Adult Career Pathways course is the second course in the series and is intended for local program administrators. However, state directors, department chairs, deans, academic senates, career development staff, curriculum developers, and other education, workforce, and community professionals will benefit from understanding how this course supports the design of bridge programs and the alignment of curriculum and employment outcomes.
  1. The ACP Course 3. Instructional Considerations for Adult Career Pathways course is the third in the series and is intended for adult basic education (ABE) and English language acquisition (ELA) instructors, and other education professionals teaching or developing curricula for adult career pathways (ACPs). While this course may be taken alone, the user may benefit from taking all three ACP courses.

A LINCS account is required to enroll in and take these courses. New users may create a new account. We encourage those that complete any of the LINCS online courses to consider completing the related Course Evaluation included at the end of each course. Completing the Course Evaluations provides critical feedback that helps LINCS improve the quality of future resources, and in addition provides OCTAE, LINCS, and other stakeholders with meaningful information to assess overall user satisfaction, course quality, and intention to apply content in the classroom.

Please enroll in these courses and share them with your colleagues! Each course includes a Certificate of Completion which course completers may submit for professional development credit to local programs and states that accept LINCS training for professional development credit.
