GED practice test questions?

Hi everyone,

New York State just switched to the GED exam. For those in GED states: Where do you go for practice test questions? In math, but also other subjects? We have looked through the free practice tests on GED.com but we need more examples to share with teachers so they know what's on the test and which they can use with students in class.

Do you use prep books? Which are better than others in terms of being aligned to the content on the GED and the style of the questions? It seems to me that many of them just change the title of the book for different tests, but don't actually write questions that are very similar to the actual test questions. Also, books often include content that is not tested on the actual exams.

We're thinking to buy some books and review them, but it seems like others have probably already done this work.

Thank you!

For sample practice test questions, I have used this website by McGraw Hill. It is based on the old test (hence the grids for some of the answers), but the questions are still decent. You (or students) can choose a chapter/topic. Then you (or students) can select "Chapter Review Quiz" or "GED Practice Quiz." Both are offer 10 different questions similar to what a student might see on the GED test for that topic. After completing the 10 questions, you submit your answers and it will score it right away and let you know if you got them correct or not. It will also provide feedback for incorrect answers. [Note: This feature appears to NOT be working. I just tested it. ?]

As for books, our program (Minneapolis Adult Education) has been using the Math Sense series by New Readers Press for some time now. I, personally, have been satisfied with them for the most part. We supplement with Steck-Vaughn Mathematical Reasoning (great for practice word problems, not so great for teaching skills/concepts) and Kaplan (has all subjects in one huge book).
