Shout Out to Community Member: Connie Rivera

On June 3, 2020, the blog, Math with Bad Drawings, by Ben Orlin published a post "What Graphs Reveal (If You Give Them Time)."  In their post, they mention some work that Connie Rivera, a Math and Numeracy CoP member, did on this subject.  I encourage you to check it out and if you have questions or musings please post to this discussion.

Congratulations Connie, this is powerful and timely math!

Thanks for the shout out, Brooke!

I developed this unit last year and its social justice theme has become even more culturally relevant recently. Jenna, who helped me strengthen my slow reveal graphs before she posted them on her website, wrote a powerful piece this week sharing her personal story. I'm proud of the math and justice conversations this unit started in my class, as well as conversations it has sparked among educators.

If you want to experience a snapshot of this unit, join my COABE session on Wednesday.
