If things get busy in the tutoring lab .... i'll be with the students :)   
I really do want to get to the SABES session about folks who resist conceptual teaching.  It's not adult ed so the motivations are different, but one of ours just keeps begging harder w/ the accessibility folks to get a calculator as an accommodation. 
      I was asked if it would really change the course to do that and welp, since the course teaches the calculations (e.g., adding integers, & fractions and decimals) that yes, it absolutely would. 

     Now, folks can present their arguments that hey, humans don't need to know how to do 2.6 x 4  In The Real World -- but knowing is better than not knowing and ... we know how to teach it if you're willing to engage.   (If you come work w/ me and it doesn't work, okay, that's another story -- but that hasn't happened yet in lo these many years.)
