Dear Colleagues,
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) is inviting States to participate in a multi-state cohort STudent Achievement in Reading (STAR) training in 2024. This professional development opportunity provides evidence-based reading instruction to a cohort of states committed to supporting their educators in advancing how they support intermediate-level adult reading learners.
The STAR training includes:
- A 30-module curriculum that includes asynchronous modules, synchronous sessions, and group activities;
- Regional, state, and other training structures to reach even more instructors across the country;
- Nationally recognized certified trainers, classroom practice, peer community support, and access to research, tools, and techniques to support instructors; and
- Content to help agencies meet the evidence-based reading instruction legislative requirement of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA).
