Hi Everyone,
When I worked for Appalachian State University, we developed a series of 38 Tier 2 vocabulary lessons to aid instructors in teaching evidence based reading. One flaw in these lessons is that most read and respond questions did not have an accompanying reading passage. Earlier this year, I fixed this issue. With permission from Marshall Adult Education, I used passages from Reading Skills for Today's Adults for the read and respond questions. These text dependent questions will aid your students in applying their knowledge of the vocabulary words.
Each of the 38 lessons include five Tier 2 words with a knowledge rating scale, clear definitions, examples in context, and four activities: fill in the blank, sentence completion, yes/no/why, and read and respond. Each lesson is available in three formats: Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and PDF. There is an answer key for the fill in the blank and read and respond questions in each folder.
Find these lessons at https://sites.google.com/view/abspdtier-2-vocabulary.
Please provide some feedback as you use these new and improved lessons with your students!
Hope you find this helpful,

Hi Everyone,
I added a Creative Commons license to the vocabulary lessons so they can be modified to suit your learners' needs.
Have a great week,

Steve, thank you for sharing such robust resources! I am a big fan of Marshall's Reading Skills for Today's Adults and am glad to know of these great lessons that build on their materials.

Hello Steve, Thanks for sharing these great vocabulary resources. I had drawn from the previous ABSPD materials, i.e., the ones that actually had accompanying texts. It's wonderful to utililze the freely available texts from the Reading Skills for Today's Adults materials that were developed by our amazing Minnesota colleagues for additional in depth Tier 2 vocabulary work.
Teachers can use the vocabulary exercises you designed during class and/or for homework. Thanks for making them editable, too!
Cheers, Susan Finn Miller
