Hi Everyone,

Please mark your calendars for January 6, 2021.  We will have a day-long discussion with Kristine Kelly from ATLAS on the subject: How Can Adult Educators Help English Language Learners Who Have Transitioned into ABE Classes?

Just because an English Language Learner post-tests out of Advanced ESL does not mean they leave their language needs at the door! For those instructors with no formal ESL teacher training, it can be tough to serve these students, especially in ways that help them to feel as "at home" in ABE classes as they often felt in their ESL classes.  Through participating in this discussion, ABE instructors will gain valuable insight on how to better serve ELLs who are increasingly a part of their ABE classrooms. ABE instructors will specifically learn how to identify ELL learners in their classrooms, understand what their unique learning needs are, and identify instructional strategies that can help them.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and questions,

Steve Schmidt, Moderator
