Job Title: Career Pathway Coordinator (Full Time ~ Grant Funded)
Reports To: Dean of General and Pre-College Education
Location: Lakeshore Technical College · Cleveland Campus
Salary Expectation: Management Exempt ~ Annual Salary Base Begins at $55,682
(Note: Salary will commensurate based on education and occupational experience.)
Purpose
To meet the objectives of LTC’s Career Pathway initiatives and the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) local grant. Provide leadership for the college Adult Career Pathway initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
Work closely with the Instructional Leadership Team, High School Relations Team, Recruitment Team and Workforce Solutions and to provide leadership for the college’s Career Pathways initiative. Align pathways to jobs, coordinate internal communication and services and ensure intensive assistance to students in the targeted populations as they progress through pathways. The coordinator reports to the Dean of General Education and Pre-College Education.
- Coordinate across college departments and systems to accommodate Career Pathways and the adult learners pursing a pathway credential.
- Bring the appropriate experts and resources together to create and improve Career Pathways.
- Align LTC Career Pathways activities with TAACCCT consortium grant objectives.
- Collaborate with the Instructional Leadership Team to create and improve Career Pathway components and assist them with the preparation of applications for Career Pathway Certificates and Embedded Technical Diplomas.
- Collaborate across the college to develop Career Pathway maps.
- Monitor progress, facilitate improvement processes, and report Career Pathway data.
- Collaborate with professionals at other colleges and the WTCS.
- Develop strategies to monitor and support Career Pathway students’ pre-college to post-secondary enrollment.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to communicate Career Pathway offerings.
- Supervise the collection of student information to fulfill Client Reporting demographic requirements.
- Assess and resolve barriers for students leading to successful completion of their Career Pathway credential.
- Refer Career Pathway students to appropriate student services staff—vocational advisor, special needs staff, and/or minority specialist—to coordinate transition efforts.
- Provide 5 Star Service to all customers.
Managerial Responsibilities
Oversee Career Pathway processes. Collaborate with Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Career Pathways. Responsibilities include design position responsibilities, interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; supervise, mentor, and develop staff through the Employee Performance review; reward and discipline employees. Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to include: develop plan(s) and budget for department; address staff and student issues in an effective and timely manner; be an active advocate for LTC in the community; and be active in the college by serving on committees.
Qualifications/Experience*
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Career and Technical Education, Curriculum, Career Counseling, Psychology, or related discipline, Master’s degree preferred.
- Three to five years’ recent related occupational experience required.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply counseling theory, apply career development theory, apply motivational theory and strategies, and work with culturally diverse population.
- Knowledge of community organization and support systems.
- Knowledge of educational systems and resources.
- Proven effective use of human relations, communications, decision making, and problem solving skills.
- Working knowledge of PC software in a windows environment (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Other qualifications include strong and effective leadership in an educational setting; proven effective use of human relations, communications, decision making, and problem solving skills; demonstration of effective performance as a member of a work team.
- Exemplify college values in all staff and student interactions as well as services delivered.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and relate successfully with staff, students, and citizens of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
