World Education’s E-Learning PD is currently enrolling for upcoming courses. The following courses are all led by facilitators who are experts in their topics. Courses take approximately three hours per week to complete and successfully making your way through the requirements will result in a Certificate of Completion. Participants do not have to be online at specific times but post to discussions and complete readings and assignments according to a fixed schedule. Contextualized Instruction (February 7-March 28)
Do your students want to build confidence, develop academic skills and pursue pathways to meaningful careers? Recent research and adult education redesign initiatives highlight the need to rethink adult education curricula to support students’ short and long term education and career goals. Contextualized instruction is an effective classroom practice that helps students develop academic skills and career awareness of current industry and sector-focused issues. In this highly participatory course you will learn more about the principles and techniques of contextualized instruction that will help you to achieve your long-term instructional goals. College Readiness for Adults: Beyond Academic Preparations (February 22-April 12)
The primary objective of this course is to assist educators, counselors, administrators and postsecondary partners to better prepare their students for postsecondary education. Participants will identify, organize, and reflect on the broad array of readiness skills and abilities that adults need to be successful in postsecondary education and training. Then they will consider how to change their practice to incorporate what they have learned.
Navigating Pathways to Opportunity: Comprehensive Student Supports (February 28-April 11)
This course helps coaches, advisors, and navigators provide the comprehensive supports that enable adults to succeed in an integrated career pathway program. Topics include strategies for identifying and engaging adult learners’ aspirations, addressing barriers, and building a comprehensive network of support to promote persistence. Participants identify the key components of a navigator program and explore the skills needed to implement it effectively.
