Designers for Learning invites you to join our next free instructional design service-learning course that starts on September 25th. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that coordinates service-learning opportunities for those who seek to gain experience creating instruction to support underserved social causes. Our mission is to provide educational resources and service-learning experiences designed to promote all aspects literacy.
This free self-paced online course is offered on Canvas Network, a massive open online course (MOOC) platform. During this service-learning course, you'll engage in a real-world, authentic instructional evaluation project that centers on the evaluation and revision of open educational resources (OER) for adult basic education. In this project-based course, you'll gain both instructional evaluation and design experience when you redevelop instructional materials that will be made available for free to adult educators and learners in the Adult Learning Zone group on OER Commons.
We heard the feedback from past participants and are offering this service project a self-paced course with no set due dates, so you're able to work on your deliverables at your own pace. As in our past course offerings, a volunteer team of instructional design and adult education subject matter experts will be manning the discussion boards to offer guidance as you work through your designs. Also, we've added optional live Designer Dialogue webinar "meet ups" the second Thursday of each month where course participants can share/compare designs and chat with the course facilitators.
