After the Pandemic, a Revolution in Education and Work Awaits

Hello Program Management Colleagues,

Whether you work in higher education, community-based education, adult schools or adult basic skills education programs, Thomas Friedman's latest opinion piece may get you thinking about how you need to prepare your students differently.  (Thanks to LINCS member,Paul Jurmo, Chair of the Open Door Collective's Labor and Workforce Development Issues Group, for calling my attention to this opinion piece.)

I would be interested to learn what part(s) of this piece got you thinking, if you agree with what Friedman predicts and, if you have already thought about this, what changes you might already be planning in your program or school. For example, in higher education HyFlex programming is on the minds of many community colleges, as well as four-year colleges and universities. (Ask me if you you would like to hear more about that.) Alsop, many adult educators are looking at competency-based training programs and credentials that may be a better move on a career path than post-secondary education.

What changes are you thinking about?

I thought this quote was critical.  "The most critical role for . . . educators, therefore, will be to equip . . .people with the curiosity and passion to be lifelong learners who feel ownership over their education."  My question is how do you measure that?  I think measuring that is much more important than documenting credential attainment which is what is measured right now.
